i'm enjoying my weekend and not doing a huge amount, it's nice. yesterday i went into town and looked at swimming costume type things and they were all hideous. i was not amused. my new trainers were fairly comfy tho after monstarwalking so i think i made the right decision on them. casualty wasn't on in the evening which was terrible. altho it's not worth watching really now that charlie's almost never in it and the oof doctor got killed off *sigh* :) i think today i will be mostly thinking about what i need to take to florida with me and how i'm going to squish it all into one bag :D mmm vapor trail, crystal method rule :D i think it may be time for a shower. last week at work was alright, it just seemed to drag a bit. kept getting mails from people with the silly serial numbers in them so was getting on with that job mostly. next week my boss type person isn't going to be in so i'll have to find work for myself mostly which shouldn't be too bad, especially as i'll only be in monday -thursday unless i decide i want to work friday, i suspect i'll b wanting to buy stuff last minute then as i think of it. tonight i'm off to a friends house for a bit for some good phood, then i suspect i'll come home and maybe even think about installing linux on my crappy old computer that's under my desk... thing is, i have a scsi cdr in it for a cd drive, a network card and then a pci graphics card... and i have a nasty feeling that i found that only 2 of the 3 pci slots worked when i was fixing the computer for my friend. could be interesting :P could get even more interesting when i start using it as a server rather than my windows machine and i need to put another network card in it :) i think i can forsee a lot of pci card swapping ;) anyhew, i'm due at $friend's house soon, i should think about moving. i finished Gemma's computer and got it delivered to her house, all set up and working fine and i even got the evil software modem from hell that i threw at a wall a year or so ago when it tried my patience one time too many to work :D their ISA modem didn't want to play at all, it was something to do with none of the irqs being dedicated to ISA but after much twiddling int he bios i gave up and gave them my old PCI modem which i fortunately didn't break when i hurled it at a wall in a temper tantrum :P anyway, now i have all that computer stuff out of my room i can try to get my posessions in some sort of order again, i appear to have inadvertently spread computer components all over my floor. crunchy. work has been fun this week. i've been harassing people to tell me the serial numbers of their crusty old HP laptops, i decided that the best tactic was to mail them and whinge about how crappy it was having the job of finding this stuff out so they'd be so busy feeling sorry for me they'd forget to get stroppy with me about making them locate stupid numbers. my plan worked. i am teh winnar*(&$*£&$ blimey, it's only about 2.5 weeks til i go to Florida :D that's pretty scary, i've never gone that far away before *snif* still, i have teh skillZ for sleeping anywhere™ and should manage to sleep for part of the flight or something. i cooked fantastic chicken tikka tonight, i am teh mastarchef :D bleh back to work in the morning, great. another bonus to having fridays off is that the time that i am there will be busy. i've found that the only thing more boring than working is not having any work to do and being stuck in the office. i've spent the weekend fighting with Gemma's computer, it's been being quite fantastically annoying and i remember exactly why i don't run windows98 on my computer. the true horror of it had paled in my memory to irritation, now i know the horrible truth once again. i clicked windows update, it crashed explorer, thanks. i tried having a modem and a network card working at the same time, the mouse pointer refused to move and after about 3 mins it hung. GRRRR*(&$(£"*&$*(£&$ yesterday i went out to town looking for trainers, they're all about 4 metres wide though which made me cross, i finally found a style that weren't an obscene colour, weren't stupidly wide and weren't too expensive and guess what... THEY DIDN'T HAVE MY SIZE. bah. went and saw Ice Age at the cinema as well, it was pretty cool and definitely worth seeing for the cool lil squirrel thing with the acorn :) went out to the pub last night for a friend's birthday type thing, it was nice to sit around and chat but it was a bit of a scary pub, some bloke got punched in the head which was nice. phil came and rescued me when everyone else decided to go clubbing so i didn't have to walk home and get murderd or anything on my way home which was a good thing. i think now i'm going to kick this computer around the floor a bit, iron a shirt for tomorrow and then get an early night, dammit, i'm turning into a grown up :/ it's friday and i'm having a day off, i'm going to be doing this every friday to try to spend some time finding a real job, i'm slowly going insane working full time in my job so i'm having a look at what's around, i'm going to try to learn some more cool stuff as well to put on my cv and doing something more interesting than typing thigns into a database might get some motivation back for me to get on with my life or something. today i installed a couple of programs, there's one cool 3d one for making landscapes and stuff that was on the front of a magazine that i plan to play with a bit this weekend. i also went swimming, the first couple of lengths of the pool were much too tiring and i thought i was going to have to give up and find somewhere to collapse and eat chocolate but after that i was on aytopilot and it was ok. i managed about 25 lengths and almost died, very tired. ah well, i guess it shows i need to do that sort of thing more often :P just finishing off my friend Gemma's computer that i put together, it worried me by working as soon as i'd put it together, it usually takes a fair bit of faffing for me to even get them to switch on properly, even all the LEDs and stuff were in the right place. i'm worried. think i might be going to see Ice Age tomorrow, looks to be pretty funny. anyhew, i'm bored with waffling, later~ friday was mum's birthday and my big brother came to visit which was cool, he lives in London so i don't get to see him all that often. i also went to ikea and got some shelves from ikea. they rule :D you can see the nifty blue lamp i got as well next to my printer in the pic wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee saturday night was mum's birthday party, lots of grownups drinking and eating and stuff, i was socable all evening and ambled about drinking beer and telling people that i've graduated, have a lame job and want to do something more interesting with my life :) the oldies all went home before 1, some people have no stamina... still it meant i got lots of sleep and then went out for nice food for mothers day on sunday. oh the hardship. work today was exceptionally boring. i didn't have enough to fill up the day properly so i had to do it slowly and have many cups of tea, i think the day would have gone faster if i'd been working allthe time. bleh. also my email wasn't working which was very annoying, that's all that normally keeps me sane and I WASN'T GETTING ANY MAILS FROM MY FRIENDS :( i'm going to go to bed now, having new shelves is altogether too exciting for me. i'll write more when i feel inspired again™ holland was lots of fun, met lots of nice and interesting people and stuff, don't tell them i said that tho, they might think i'm nice or something. it was good to get away and chill out a bit, i really need a new job, this one irritates me way too much. i realised on the weekend, it's only, like, 5 weeks until i'm off to florida with #exeter types. scary given that i have no money so far saved up to spend there, i can feel a credit card moment coming on. i am not impressed by the euro, i think it mings. it's very silly having many coins which, in anything but bright sunlight, all look the same. "Good Work". They must all be destroyed and sensible coins made instead. taunt. time for bed, i have some serious sleeping to do. or perhaps flippant sleeping. whatever.
